These area's are ready for redevelopment. Businesses wishing to relocate to the Gateways should contact the CRA office for additional information regarding incentives. The Lake Worth CRA is building a small parking lot on a vacant piece of land (1/3 acre) located on the east side of Dixie Highway two blocks south of 10th Avenue North at 812 North Dixie Highway. The park will include parking for nearby business customers and some park amenities to be enjoyed by nearby business owners, employees and residential neighbors. This project is expected to be completed in 2010. Sidewalk Demonstration Project
The CRA has recently completed the sidewalk construction work in the Tropical Ridge neighborhood. This project was established in 2007 due to the lack of sidewalks in the western CRA neighborhoods. The new sidewalks will benefit the residents by creating a safe and consistent environment for the pedestrians of Lake Worth. For more information regarding this project, please contact the CRA. Sidewalk Construction. Bicycle Network Plan
The CRA, in conjunction with the City of Lake Worth and Kimley Horn and Associates, has created a detailed bicycle network plan for the entire city. The need for this plan was made evident soon after design for the Gateway project was completed. Lake Worth residents voiced their concern for more bicycle facilities such as bike racks, bike lanes and bike paths. The Bicycle Network Plan gathers substantial amounts of data and public comment and provides a guide for the City to better accommodate bicyclists. Click Here to view the plan.
Community Gardens
One of the initiatives of the CRA Redevelopment Plan is the creation and promotion of addtional greenspace throughout the CRA district. The CRA is proud to help sponsor a community garden in the western CRA neighborhood. There is a community garden located at the corner of 6th Avenue North and D Street. The CRA is constantly looking for new ways to help promote additional greenspace and pocket parks in the City. For more information regarding these gardens, please contact the CRA. 6th Avenue North Community Garden. Additionally, the CRA and the non-profit group For The Children, has sponsored the "Garden of Youth" at the Osborne Center Community School House. This garden was funded through a $3,000 Community Aid Grant in 2008. Click Here to view a video slide show of the project. Adopt-A-Family Pocket Park
In 2006, the CRA partnered with Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches and the Young Presidents Organization of the Palm Beaches to construct a new kiddie park in the western neighborhoods. Materials and labor for the construction of the park was donated by the Young Presidents Organization. The City of Lake Worth donated the land for the park and provided utility service for the landscape. This formerly vacant lot will provide area children a safe place to play and relax.
