Bike Network Plan

In 2008, the CRA, in partnership with the City, hired Kimley-Horn and Associates to produce a comprehensive city-wide Bicycle Network Plan. The Plan was created to address and recommend improvements to the physical environment and develop a policy framework to accommodate existing and future needs. Three critical components to a successful comprehensive bicycle plan include bicycle facilities, amenities and programs. The Plan addresses all these components and includes an action and implementation plan. The main objectives of the Network Plan include:

  • Providing continuous north-south and east-west travel routes for commuting bicyclists;
  • Maximizing opportunities for recreational bicycling through selective treatment of lower traffic corridors and scenic routes; and
  • Connecting residential neighborhoods to major community destinations including schools, parks commercial areas, recreational facilities and employment centers.
